The Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has cleared the air on the ongoing registration of IT contractors by the agency, stating that, the process is not aimed at registering IT professionals, but rather to ascertain the capacity of the vendor companies.
Pantami revealed these during a meeting between the agency and the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, CPN, at the agency’s corporate headquarters, Monday in Abuja
Pantami said the registration will also help to screen out quacks engaging in IT procurements without complying with standards, noting that the rate of failed IT projects in Nigeria is alarming.
The DG said that “IT is a professional area which requires certified IT professionals to move the Industry forward” at the agency’s corporate headquarters, Monday in Abuja.
The highlight of the meeting was the formation of a joint working committee with 5 representatives drawn from each organisation.
